DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - While records are made to be broken, Tony Dorsett holds a record that can't be broken.

Dorsett holds the record for longest run in NFL history, when the Dallas Cowboys player raced for a 99-yard touchdown run against the Minnesota Vikings on January 3, 1983. The 99-yard play will forever stand as the NFL record for the longest run from scrimmage. It can't be broken, only tied.

What makes the play even more remarkable is the fact that there were only 10 players on the field for the Cowboys offense when Dorsett made his record-setting run. Ron Springs had left the field after a mixup on the play call.

Backed up to their own 1-yard line, Dorsett took the handoff from Danny White, and burst through a hole. Dorsett then cut right and raced down the sideline with a couple of Vikings defenders in pursuit. Dorsett almost stepped out of bounds, but made a final move to avoid Vikings defender Willie Team, bursting into both the endzone and the record books.

Dorsett's 99-yard touchdown run stands at the 11th greatest moment in Cowboys history.
