FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) -Three weeks after Sylvia Palacios announced her retirement from Frisco Schools, Erin Miller, previously associate principal at Lone Star High School, has been named principal of Frisco High School.

Palacios had been reassigned to the dismay of hundreds of students who staged a walk-out of school to show support for her.  She filed a grievance but ultimately reached a deal with the district and retired.

Erin Miller meantime, is a familiar face to many students and parents at Frisco High, as she served as assistant principal there from 2012-2014. She also served as the high school summer school principal during that time.

Frisco ISD says Miller joined the district in 2004 as an English teacher at Clark Middle School. She later taught and served as instructional coach at Liberty High School, before becoming an assistant principal there in 2009. She began her career in education 20 years ago in Lubbock and has also taught in Arlington and Plano. Her bachelor's degree is from Texas Tech University and her master's degree is from Lamar University.

"We are very pleased to be able to name a leader for Frisco High School who knows and understands the culture of FISD and FHS and who values the work that has been done and the legacy of the school," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeremy Lyon. "We are all committed to supporting Ms. Miller in this transition and we look forward to working in partnership with parents as we prepare for the 2015-16 school year."

FISD says Miller is honored to be rejoining colleagues, friends and families at FHS in her new leadership role and is already in contact with staff and parents.
