Mavs Place Deron Williams On Waivers

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After failing to trade Deron Williams by Thursday's 2 p.m. trade deadline, the Dallas Mavericks have requested waivers on the point guard.

Earlier Thursday, a source close to Mike Fisher told him the team and Williams were working toward a 'parting' of ways.'
If Williams clears waivers he'll have an opportunity to sign with any team he wants. Cleveland and Utah are known to be among the suitors for his services.
By removing Williams from the equation, Dallas can now hand the point guard reigns over to the undrafted Yogi Ferrell.
Williams is a 12-year veteran who re-signed with Dallas on July 8, 2016. Williams averaged 13.1 points, 6.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 29.3 minutes in 40 games.
Last season with Dallas, The Colony native averaged 14.1 points, 5.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 32.4 minutes in 65 games.
