DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - According to Shams Charania of The Verticle, the Mavericks are the front runners for the services of power forward David Lee. While, Mavericks insider Mike Fisher is reporting that Dallas is very interested in the veteran.

Lee was released by the Boston Celtics on Friday afternoon, making him eligible to sign with any team but Boston after clearing waivers.

Lee would provide much needed front-court help for the Mavericks if he indeed signed with them. He averages 14.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for his career. So far this season, Lee's played in 30 games with the Celtics, averaging 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds a game in just over 15 minutes per contest.

The forward out of Florida is a former all-star with the New York Knicks. He was starting last season with the championship winning Golden State Warriors before an injury sidelined him. Draymond Green took over the starting role and ran away with it, moving Lee to the bench and eventually out of the rotation.

Lee was granted a trade to Boston this season, but he fell out of favor in their rotation as they are going with younger players.
