ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Cross Timbers Intermediate School in Mansfield ISD sent a note home to parents about a suspicious man seen near the school.

The letter from principal Gina Rietfors explains a girl told police, a man driving a newer-model extended cab truck approached her Wednesday while she was walking home from school and offered to take her home.

She refused and ran home.

The student described the man as having lightly-tan skin, a beard and an accent.  She said he appeared to be in his 50s or 60s.

Arlington Police are investigating.

In the letter the principal reminded families to have "stranger danger" rules in place like never accepting a ride from a stranger, walk to and from school in groups and if anything unusual happens, tell an adult immediate.
