LAS CRUCES, N.M. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Authorities say man wanted in a Texas homicide case has been arrested in New Mexico.

Las Cruces police say 54-year-old Donald Fourqurean was taken into custody Wednesday after a brief car chase.

They say Fourqurean was being booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he likely will be held without bond while he awaits extradition to Texas.

Fourqurean was wanted by police in Fort Worth in a December 2014 case that involved the death of 46-year-old Jimmy Ellis.  Police allege Fourqurean went to an apartment in the 4800 block of East Lancaster Avenue to smoke drugs with Ellis. Police say the two got into an argument at some point and that's when Ellis was shot multiple times.

A nationwide warrant had been issued for Fourqurean's arrest.

Las Cruces police say they learned Fourqurean was possibly in the city and driving a car with Oklahoma license plates.

After a short vehicle pursuit, police say Fourqurean was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon without further incident.
