DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Law enforcement officials in Dallas have a man in custody after he fired shots at police officers early Friday morning. But the situation turned out to be a misunderstanding. It happened at about 2:30 a.m. in the 10700 block of C.F. Hawn Freeway.

This is the location of Concrete Construction, a business that was struck by burglars on Wednesday.

After that burglary incident, a company employee was tasked with spending the night at the business just to make sure that the criminals did not return. He was asleep when police arrived for a 'routine' check. He heard the commotion and woke up to see what was happening.

Meanwhile, police noticed the man inside of his vehicle and called for additional officers, including assistance from the Dallas Police Department's helicopter. Authorities surrounded the business and began to approach the man.

When the worker went outside, he saw shadows moving and started firing shots. He later discovered that it was officers at the business and not criminals, when the police began shouting commands. The man came out with his hands in the air and surrendered. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the shooting incident.

They all eventually sorted out the situation, but that employee is now in police custody and his gun has been recovered. It is not yet known if he will face any charges.
