SUNNYVALE (CBSDFW.COM) -  Dallas County Sheriff's investigators are trying to track down whoever pulled a gun on a 69-year-old man and fired a shot in the air before getting the man to give up his car keys and cell phone.

It happened Wednesday around 4:50 a.m. in the Glenwick Addition neighborhood.

While walking in the 3300 block of Willowcreek Dr., a silver/gray vehicle, possibly a 2011 Dodge Avenger drove past the man turned around and came back.

A man in his early 20's to late teens, got out of the car and produced a black semi-automatic handgun demanding the man give him money.

He continued walking saying he did not have any money. The suspect then shot one round in the air and the man gave him his car keys and cell phone. The suspect got back into the passenger side of the car and the car drove off. The victim's cell phone was recovered along with a 9MM shell casing.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is advising the public that if they do exercise or walk the neighborhood in the early morning hours, they need to always be aware of their surroundings or wait until the sun starts to rise.

Due to the event, there will be additional patrols in that neighborhood for the next several days between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.

Should anyone see a vehicle matching this description driving slowly through the Sunnyvale neighborhood early in the morning, please call 911 or 214-749-8641 and provide them with the vehicle description, license plate number if possible, and direction of travel. DO NOT attempt to follow the vehicle or make contact with the subjects.
