ROWLETT(CBSDFW.COM) - A kitten's cry from deep inside a storm drain prompted a risky rescue.

Neighbors say police, firefighters and animal control all deemed it too dangerous to try to retrieve the kitten.  So folks in the area banded together to attempt it themselves.

Jonathan Trantham went into the drain to coax the kitten out.

"It ran from me the whole time, " said Trantham.

He ended up following it through a narrow drain pipe.

"I could duck down and crawl through," he said.

Trantham says his only two fears in life are tight spaces and roaches, both of which he confronted.

"Looking back, I was a little scared," he said.

Eventually a neighbor blocked off the other end up the pipe sending the kitten scrambling into . carrier.

Now nicknamed, "Storm" the calico is up for adoption.
