Man Killed Trying To Run Across North Central Expressway

RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) - A man is dead after trying to run across North Central Expressway.

Richardson Police say it happened early Tuesday afternoon around 635 and Midpark when a 46-year-old man tried to run across 75 and was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that stuck the victim stopped to help.

"He was actually struck in the HOV lanes and pronounced dead at that location," according to Richardson Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich. "Because of the result of that there was backup traffic and that congestion lead to a secondary crash in Dallas."

The victim's has not been released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner. It is not known why he darted across the busy highway.

All lanes of traffic re-opened at 4 p.m.
