GRANBURY (KRLD-AM) - A photo of a Granbury man doing his job went viral and Jimmie Cox says he is taken aback by all the attention.

Cox works for the Acton Municipal Utility District in Hood County. Earlier this month, he was at Andrea Adams' house in Pecan Plantation fixing a broken one-inch pipe.

He had to dive down in about five feet of water to get to the pipe.

"I was trying to get my hands around the pipe so that I can put a pair of crimpers on there to stop the water from coming out," said Cox.

Armed with her camera, Adams snapped a photo of Cox with his head and torso buried in the water, leaving only his jeans and cowboy boots visible.

The photo has since blown up the internet, turning Cox into a folk hero.

Cox said he was simply doing his job.

"I've probably done that 80, close to 100 times," said Cox. "I've been doing this for about six years."

And he says he's done it a couple times since the viral photo was taken.

Cox said he's trying to get used to his new-found fame.

"It honestly feels surreal," said Cox, "because I'm just some guy that works for the water company. I'm not some big celebrity or anything like that."
