Man Dies In Dallas Police Custody

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - A man died Monday night after being taken into police custody in Dallas.
The Dallas Police Department stated that officers responded to a disturbance call at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday night in the 5400 block of North Jim Miller Road, in the Buckner Terrace neighborhood, where a man was exhibiting erratic behavior in front of a restaurant.
According to authorities, preliminary information indicated that the man had entered a parked vehicle that belonged to someone else.
Police ordered the man to get out of the car. He briefly opened the car door and officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle. A struggle ensued and additional officers were called to the scene. Police said that one officer used his Taser on the man, who then began to show signs of distress.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the man to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas where he was pronounced dead. The man's name has not yet been released.
Four police officers had contact with the man before his death. Authorities said that an investigation is ongoing.
