Mesquite Man Arrested For Fatal DWI In Uptown Dallas

DALLAS, Texas (1080 KRLD) - Dallas Police have arrested a man they say hit and killed a woman in uptown Dallas.

23-year-old Travis Elwell of Mesquite has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of 34-year-old Emily Javadi.

Police reports determined that Elwell was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to notice the parked vehicle that Javadi was standing next to. When he crashed into the parked car, she was hit and thrown into a metal pole.

The accident happened Tuesday at around 5:30pm.

Javadi was taken to Parkland Hosptial, where she died.

According to her social media pages and a report in CUlture map Dallas - Javadi was an entrepreneur who had recently launched a cake pop business.

The former Neiman Marcus employee had become a popular caterer for parties and arts events in Dallas.
