Driver faces DWI charges after head-on collision with Dallas PD patrol car on US 75

Crash involving Dallas PD unit on US 75 at Walnut Hill causes delays

DALLAS – A 22-year-old is facing charges after a head-on collision with a Dallas Police Department patrol unit.

Dallas police officers received reports of a wrong-way driver in a green 2017 Honda HRV traveling northbound on N. Central Expressway near Walnut Hill around 4:45 a.m., according to a news release.

A marked squad car, a 2020 Dodge Charger driven by an officer responding to the call, was traveling southbound on the same road when it collided with Kalisa Bienvenue.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the officer and Bienvenue to a local hospital with minor injuries, the news release states.

Bienvenue has been charged with driving while intoxicated.

The crash caused all southbound lanes of the North Central Expressway at Walnut Hill to close. As of 8:26 a.m., the lanes had reopened.
