AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is calling for the resignation of Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner after he instituted a new bathroom policy regarding transgender students.
Fort Worth ISD says students can use the bathroom for the gender they identify with.
In a statement Patrick said, "After less than a year as superintendent, Dr. Scribner has lost his focus and thereby his ability to lead the Fort Worth ISD. He has placed his own personal political agenda ahead of the more than 86,000 students attending 146 schools in the district by unilaterally adopting 'Transgender Student Guidelines...' I call upon the parents within the Fort Worth ISD to take immediate steps to repeal this stealthy scheme and remove Dr. Scribner from his post."
Fort Worth ISD's School Board President, Jacinto "Cinto" Ramos Jr. issued this statement:
"We have enormous confidence in Superintendent Kent P. Scribner, his team, and our Board. We are focused on creating a strong, safe, and productive learning environment for ALL students."
A Dallas School board member came to Scribner's immediate defense on Twitter:
The hypocrisy of @DanPatrick has reached a new level. He speaks of education reform, stable district leadership, and local control (cont.)

and then calls for the ouster of a less than one year Ed reform superintendent who made a regulation change within his local authority.
