Little Elm Police Investigating Child's Death

LITTLE ELM (CBSDFW.COM) - Little Elm Police are investigating the death of an 18-month-old girl in the 2900 block of Bay Breeze Drive.

Police say when the child's father checked on her before leaving for work Friday, June 10, she was unresponsive.

Police say she was treated for an at a Plano hospital on Thursday, June 9 and was released.

Friday morning, police say the distraught father called 911 then went into the front yard where he fired eight shots with a handgun into the ground to signal police and fire personnel where he was located. No one was injured from the shots being fired into the ground.

First responders determined the child had died before they got there.

Police say their investigation found no foul play but the medical examiner has ordered an autopsy.

Police say the results could take several months.
