ROWLETT (CBSDFW/1080 KRLD) - Early morning storms are the likely cause of a house fire in Rowlett.

Firefighters say a probable lightning strike set a home on fire on Aberdeen Road near Princeton Road around 5:00am Wednesday.

It took firefighters less than 5 minutes to arrive and they contained the flames to the outside of the house.

Assistant Fire Chief Sean Fay says the house is still safe to live in.

Neighbors spotted the flames first and told the family inside what was happening. They all got out safely. No injuries were reported.

Fay says the family reported hearing a clap of thunder and their house shaking, so while nobody saw the lightning strike they do believe that's was the cause.
