Last Week of August Starts Hot

A hot & humid Sunday is in full swing across n. Texas. By 3pm the temperature at DFW was at 97°, exactly where it was yesterday at this time. The difference? Yesterday the dewpoint was at 61° for a relative humidity of 30%. Today the dewpoint is at 67° at 3pm for a RH of 37%. It doesn't look like a big change on paper but in practice I'm betting ice water and shade you can tell difference. The heat index at 3pm sat at 101°:

Temperatures will slow to fall with the summer sun. It'll be dusk before it's a comfortable walk in and around the garden or trail:

This morning a tropical depression spun hard enough to give itself a name. Tropical Storm Christabol became the third named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season; the slowest start since 2000. It's back-to-school for the vast majority of people who learn for a weekday job. I'm betting that Monday or Tuesday (or both) will go down as the hottest school day of the calendar year.  Not going to be pleasant at band/football practice tomorrow!

To quote the Beatles I believe its getting better, getting better all the time. By the end of the week we'll be in the lower 90's and have some rain chances. All about that at 5:30 on CBS11 News. Join us after the golf play:
