Lance Armstrong Wins Appeal To Halt Case
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - A Texas appeals court has stopped an arbitration panel from reviewing $12 million in bonuses paid to Lance Armstrong by a Dallas-based company that wants its money back.
Armstrong appealed a recent court ruling that allowed the arbitration panel to reconsider a case that was settled between Armstrong and SCA Promotions back in 2006.
The company says it should get its money back because Armstrong now admits he used performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career to win the Tour de France.
Armstrong insists the settlement cannot be reopened. Tuesday's ruling by the Fifth Court of Appeal in Dallas halts the case pending further review.
SCA had sought to compel Armstrong to give sworn testimony as early as this week. The arbitration panel had scheduled a March 17 hearing.
