Smollet's Character Being Removed From Remaining Season's Episodes Of 'Empire'

CHICAGO (CBS) - One day after he was arrested for allegedly faking a hate crime because he was upset with his salary on the hit TV show "Empire," actor Jussie Smollett appears to be losing his job.

The shows producers announced Thursday morning that Smollett's character, Jamal Lyon, will be removed from the final two episodes of the current season.

"While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays," ''Empire" producers said in a written statement. ""We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show."
