June Starts Warm & Mostly Dry
Because of all the rain there is a tremendous amount of moisture in the lower levels of the atmosphere. Because of this you can expect mid-day low clouds almost every day as well as a slight chance for a pop up thunderstorm. For the most part though expect mostly dry conditions and a warming trend. This starts tomorrow on the first day of June:
May goes down as a month to remember for the rain and storms. It also will go down as the 20th coolest May on record based on average temperature. But of course it's about the rain. Just about all of north Texas shared in a bounty of drought-busting, flooding rains:
We'll watch upstream from us in the Texas Panhandle over the next several days. A northwest flow aloft will drive any disturbances through here. Right now the best rain chances (and only 20% of a chance at that) look to be tomorrow afternoon in the western counties and tomorrow overnight over the Metroplex:
Otherwise it looks mostly dry. The long range precipitation forecast is for amounts 1/2" or higher. Nothing significant is forecast for most of Texas over the next week:
It's okay, because of the April/May rains we are out of drought:
Looking at long range models it appears rain chances start showing up in bulk again about 10-12 days into the month. The forecast is for above normal rainfall for June and for this summer as well:
Here is the seven-day. There'll be a mere 10% storm chance every day as temperatures start to warm. We still having hit 90° this year at DFW, we might do that by the end of the week:
