LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - A major North Texas traffic jam greeted Friday commuters and travelers.

Around 6:30 a.m., a jackknifed 18-wheeler twisted across three lanes of traffic and completely shutdown the northbound lanes of Interstate-35E.

The accident in Lewisville closed all lanes of I-35E near Corporate Drive, near Business Highway 121. Traffic was detoured off the interstate at Corporate and was rerouted onto the frontage road. Drivers got back on the highway at the next entrance ramp.

By 11:00 a.m. only two northbound lanes remained closed and all of the southbound lanes were open and moving smoothly.

The 18-wheeler was uprighted and towed from the scene. It isn't known how long the remaining lanes of I-35E will be closed. Traffic headed northbound remains backed up.

Drivers traveling up through Irving and Carrollton should expect delays. Check out the CBSDFW.COM traffic map for the latest updates and to find alternate routes.
