DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas Police Department employee and officer were fired Friday morning or their own arrests.

Interim Police Chief David Pughes terminated Officer Silvestre Hernandez Jr. after an internal affairs investigation into his DWI arrest in Austin. Hernandez Jr. was charged with a class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated in April. A report found his blood alcohol was 0.11 above the legal limit at the time of his arrest.

Support Services Division office assistant Laquita Harper was fired after an investigation determined she fled from a Corinth police officer trying to conduct a traffic stop. Harper was also rude to the arresting officer, according to police. She was indicted for evading arrest in Corinth.

Both have a right to appeal.
