DENTON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Icy road conditions lead to multiple vehicle accidents in Denton County Wednesday night.

U.S. Highway 380 near Providence Village, about half way between Denton and Frisco, closed due to a seven-vehicle fatal wreck around 7:30 pm.

Meanwhile, northbound  I-35E just south of Denton near the I-35 connector was down to one lane for hours because of a jackknifed 18-wheeler.

Conditions quickly deteriorated around 7:00 pm in Denton County and became worse throughout the evening.

Brandon Lira said he is lucky to be alive after his vehicle nearly went down concrete ditch in downtown Denton.

The UNT student said when swerving to avoid a driver that has slid through a stop sign, his car slide off the road.

With half his vehicle hanging over the ditch, Lira managed to climb out his back window and to safety.

"I really thought that was going to be it for me," he said.
