Driver Arrested After Standoff On I-20 In Dallas County

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A driver was arrested after a nearly hour-long standoff with police and SWAT on Interstate-20 in southern Dallas County Friday morning.

Police in Grand Prairie said officers tried to perform a traffic stop on a possible intoxicated driver at around 9 a.m. on I-20 near Great Southwest after they observed the vehicle traveling with a blown-out tire.

According to police, the driver, later identified as Christopher De La Rosa, fled from officers before stopping in the middle of the road near I-35E in Dallas.

Police said De La Rose refused to follow commands to exit his vehicle. More police and SWAT responded to the scene as a standoff ensued. The standoff caused both sides of the highway to be shut down.
