HURST (CBSDFW) - An arrest warrant for a former third grade teacher in Hurst says more than five students accused him of inappropriate touching at the end of the last school year. One girl told police 25-year-old Angel Omar Sales had done it to some girls the entire school year.

In a letter posted online Wednesday, HEB ISD superintendent Steven Chapman wrote that he did not want the news to overshadow the beginning of the new school year. Additional measured for safety and security would be implemented he wrote, but neither he, school board president Ellen Jones or the district communications director would speak on camera to CBS11.

The warrant says Hurst police first learned about the accusations from an investigator with the Department of Family Protective Services. That came 10 days after the families of two alleged victims reported incidents to Bellaire Elementary School. The district confirmed it notified state investigators first, as part of district policy.

A district spokesperson said a state child protective services employee had assured them twice, on the day after the alleged victims reported the incidents, that police would be notified. A CPS spokesperson did not immediately return calls for comment.

Police said Wednesday that because the teacher was removed from the classroom, no students were in any further danger during that time.

No one answered the door Wednesday at a home listed as Sales' address. His attorney did not return a call for comment.

The warrant says he denied doing anything the students accused him of. When asked if it could have been an accident, he is quoted as saying "I don't remember any of that."
