SUNNYVALE (CBSDFW.COM) — Nearly 400 people gathered in Sunnyvale to help clean up tornado damage on Saturday.

The town was one of the first areas to report damage after last week's storms. The tornadoes killed 11 people, though none in Sunnyvale.

Mayor Jim Phaup said volunteers have been able to help a lot of homeowners clean up their properties and protect their valuables.

"Today was just kind of a nice wrap-up after a week of turmoil, as [residents] try to put their lives back together," Phaup said.

Many of those who volunteered to help clean came from outside of Sunnyvale.
