OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) - Back in September of 2015, a renovation of an Oak Cliff home uncovered what appeared to be human remains.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner removed bones found alongside a house on the 700 block of Winnetka, but could not definitely say at the time whether they were, in fact human.

Today, DNA comparisons revealed that the remains belonged to the registered homeowner, 57-year-old Ronald David Shumway.

Neighbors said in September that they hadn't seen Shumway in nine months and property records show realtor, Fred Robertson, bought the home this summer.

Robertson declined comment at the time, but neighbors say he'd been remodeling the home to re-sell it.

They say he and a worker were at the house on September 24th, when the two tried breaking apart a concrete slab in the backyard.

Police say that's where the men discovered what looked like a human body.

Police are now looking for 43-year-old Christopher Brian Colbert as a person of interest in the case.

Authorities say Colbert assumed Shumway's identity and committed several deceptive acts.

He is currently wanted for tampering with Governemental Record, Securing Execution of Document by Deception and Money Laundering.

Each charge carries a $100,000.00 bond.
