FORT WORTH (CBS11) – It's billed as a childhood classic with a massive and urban twist.

Now "Slide The City" is coming back to Fort Worth.

Last year organizers managed to break a world record with a 2,000 foot slide through downtown Fort Worth, but the event had some equipment issues.

But Chris Conran, this year's event director, says things will be a lot different especially since the slide will be only 1,000 feet.

"We just have a lot of contingency plans in place this year to make sure we don't deal with the same issues as last year," said Conran.

The Clear Fork Bridge off of Hulen Street in southwest Fort Worth will play host to this year's slide.

The bridge will close at 3:00 a.m. Saturday and if the event is a hit, it could stay closed for another day of slipping and sliding on Sunday.

Organizers say they are expecting thousands of people at the event.
