FORT WORTH, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - ATMOS crews have been on the scene of a gas leak in the White Settlement area all night, but people evacuated still can't get back to their home just yet.

According to officials, at least five homes in the 8500 block of Michael St. had to be evacuated after one homeowner smelled gas.

The fire department was able to notify and safely evacuate other residents in the immediate area.

Firefighters say the line ruptured, possibly due to the freezing temperatures, spilling gas into the sewage lines.

Once the fire marshal gives the all-clear, the residents will be able to return home.
