MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) – The Petrulis family in Mansfield credits Home Depot for saving their Thanksgiving meal tonight.
When the baking element burned out in their oven, they headed to the store to replace it. But when their search didn't procure the necessary apparatus, Appliance Manager Jeff Smith and Flooring Manager Blaine Bedison stepped in.
Rather than letting the family leave crestfallen at the thought of a 'turkeyless' holiday, they offered to loan them a demo oven for the weekend.
"It is truly cool to know that there are awesome people here in Texas that are willing to help out of the kindness of their heart," said Geoff Petrulis. "I couldn't believe it when they suggested that option. Incredible."
It was management's idea – the family didn't ask.
"This was good people doing a good thing on the spur of the moment."
Petrulis works for CBS DFW. Home Depot was not aware of that fact when they offered the loaner.
