ADDISON (CBSDFW.COM) - Everything is bigger in Texas, and Fourth of July celebrations are no exception. Many folks will be in Addison on Friday night for Kaboom Town, the biggest event of the weekend. Addison has been lighting up the sky with their annual festival for 30 years, and no tickets are required this time.

Kaboom Town is always ranked as one of the top patriotic pyrotechnic displays in the nation. The fireworks show is 30 minutes of dazzling light.

An estimated 500,000 people will be at the Friday night event. Families are allowed to bring small coolers into Addison Circle Park, but not alcohol. Beer and wine will be available for sale inside the gates.

The fireworks do not start popping until about 9:30 p.m. on Friday night, but the city encourages North Texans to start showing up as early as 4:00 p.m. because viewing spots are first come, first served. Thankfully, there is a wide variety of activities to keep everyone entertained -- a carnvial, military band performance and an air show starting at 7:15 p.m. on Friday night.

Talented pyrotechnic pilots flew in from all over the country to be in Addison. These guys have spent days meticulously setting up their show, because they only get one shot at it. Overcast conditions expected Friday evening will not derail the air show. The pilots can fly, so long as the wind stays calm.

"Everybody's a kid when it comes to fireworks. When you add a dimension to it of it being on an airplane that's trailing sparklers or sparks behind it," said pilot Steve Oliver, "everybody loves it."

Law enforcement officials will be there early too. The FBI put out a countrywide warning for people to be aware of their surroundings over the holiday weekend, after three terrorist attacks overseas within the past week. There is no credible threat to be concerned about, but it is always good to be cautious.

If you cannot make it to Kaboom Town on Friday, there are plenty of other events planned across DFW over the Fourth of July weekend. More than 70,000 people are expected to be at Fort Worth's fireworks show, and other large displays are scheduled in Burleson and Cleburne.
