DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -  Governor Greg Abbott Saturday released a statement following the University of Texas Longhorns' victory over the Oklahoma Sooners, resulting in 600 meals being served on behalf of Head Country Bar-B-Q to the Capital Area Food Bank in Austin in accordance with Governor Abbott's Red River Rivalry wager with Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.

Although Texas won the wager, Governor Abbott announced that the city Rescue Mission in Oklahoma City will still receive a shipment of barbecue from Railhead in Fort Worth.

"As the old saying goes, don't mess with Texas," said Governor Abbott. "I commend the Oklahoma Sooners on a well fought game and congratulate the Longhorns on a hard-earned victory. More importantly however, this wager resulted in meals being provided to those in need in both Texas and Oklahoma."
