COPPELL (AP) - Retail gasoline prices across Texas and nationwide have declined 2 cents per gallon this week.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the statewide average slipped to $2.04 per gallon. Prices at the pump across the U.S. settled at $2.29 per gallon.

Texarkana has the cheapest gasoline in Texas at an average $1.96 per gallon. Drivers in Amarillo are paying the most statewide at $2.19 per gallon.

Association experts say the refinery maintenance season is nearing its peak. Ample domestic crude oil supplies are expected to temper any regional price spikes.

AAA officials say drivers, before year's end, could see the national average price fall below $2 per gallon for the first time since 2009.
