COPPELL (AP) - Retail gasoline prices have spiked across Texas this week going into the Memorial Day weekend to an average of $2.07 per gallon, seven cents more than last week's average.

AAA Texas on Tuesday reported the nationwide price at the pump also rose 6 cents this week to average $2.29 per gallon.

The association survey found that Dallas has the most expensive gasoline in Texas this week at $2.15 per gallon. Drivers in San Antonio have the cheapest gas statewide at $1.99 per gallon.

AAA Texas says drivers in Texas were paying 44 cents less per gallon on Thursday when compared to a year ago.

A club statement says the price rise may be related to the removal of some Gulf Coast refineries from production for unplanned maintenance.
