FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - A gas leak in Flower Mound is causing a major intersection to be shut down for six to 10 hours.

The Town of Flower Mound says Atmos Energy is working to resolve a gas leak that is affecting the west side of the intersection of FM 3040 and FM 2499.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, a contractor hit a gas line while working on the roadway.

Atmos crews are working to isolate the leak, establish a temporary bypass to maintain gas service and repair the line.

There are no evacuations in the area as of 5:00 p.m. Tuesday and first responders are on the scene.

The gas pumps at the 7-Eleven located at theintersection are closed.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area and expect delays.
