Funeral Set For Texas Trooper Killed In Patrol Car Crash

BROWNWOOD (CBSDFW.COM/AP)A funeral is scheduled for a veteran Texas state trooper killed in a patrol car crash in Mills County last week.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the funeral for 49-year-old Sergeant William "Karl" Keesee is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery about 13 miles north of Brownwood.

According to DPS officials, Keesee was on duty and southbound on U.S. 84 near Goldthwaite when his patrol vehicle left the road, went over a guardrail and into a creek bed. A passing motorist late Thursday night noticed debris on the road and reported the accident.

Keesee, 49, joined DPS in 1990. He's survived by his wife and two children.

Goldthwaite is 80 miles west of Waco.
