FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) – Frisco ISD voted to approve attendance zone changes to regulate continuing growth in the district in 2015.

The newly approved plan affects 180 families whose children will attend multiple high schools.

Opening next school year are Reedy High School, Trent Middle School, Pearson Middle School and Norris Elementary.

Many unhappy families showed up at Frisco's school board meeting hoping the district would reconsider their controversial rezoning plan.

Attendance zone changes were also proposed between Robertson and Boals elementaries and between Lone Star and Wakeland high schools to better balance student populations.

The plan has split siblings, doubling the responsibility for their parents.

"Supporting two schools is just a horrible thing to do," said parent Jason Harmony.

The district said every new school requires some students to transfer and that it's not unusual for some siblings to be split apart. But parents faced with choosing between competing school events will soon face tough choices.

For Frisco student Nicholas Cimo, attending the new Reedy High School could mean missing out on band competitions.

"I've heard they may not have competitions the first year which makes me feel sad," said Cimo.

His sister Juliana said she worries about losing touch with lifelong friends.

"I try not to think about it but when I do it's kind of upsetting," she said.

Frisco student Morgan Hamony would miss a chance to share one year of high school together with her older sister.

"I really want to follow in her footsteps and have that year with her," said Hamony.
