OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) – Friends of a Dallas teenager are hoping someone comes forward with information about his death.

A jogger found Joe Martinez's body in an alley in West Oak Cliff yesterday morning.

"When I found out he was dead, it was surprising to me," said a friend of the victim. "I really didn't believe it at first."

Friends left flowers and candles for the 15-year-old. His death at such a young age is hard for them to accept.

"He won't be able to go to high school, prom, have kids, a wedding or anything like that."

His friends said they remember the teen as funny, outspoken and a bit of a troublemaker.

Martinez's Instagram account is filled with pictures of what appear to be marijuana, alcohol, and gang signs.

"We're definitely taking a look at that," said Lt. Thomas Castro with the Dallas Police Department.

Police said Martinez was shot Monday around 1:30 a.m. They aren't sure why he was in the alley, but hope his friends will come forward with clues.

There aren't weren't any suspects, witnesses or answers for family at the time of this report.
