Four people hospitalized after police chase in Lake Worth ends in rollover

Four people hospitalized after late-night police chase in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) — Four people are in the hospital this morning after a short police chase in Lake Worth ended in a crash.

Police said that just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, officers attempted to stop a vehicle with four people in it for an "equipment violation." The driver allegedly did not stop and led police on a chase for about a minute before hitting a curb in the 2900 block of Norwest Center Dr.

The vehicle hit the curb so hard that it caused the driver to lose control and flip over in a nearby field, ejecting three of the occupants. Officers immediately began administering first aid and called for a medical helicopter to be placed on standby.

All four occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Police have identified them as Eric Conde, 28, Xavier Lopez, 18, a 16-year-old male, and a 13-year-old girl.

As of noon of Feb. 16, 2023, the 13-year-old girl remained at the hospital in critical condition while Conde and Lopez are in serious but stable condition. The 16-year-old male was treated and has since been released.

When officers began searching the scene, they allegedly found two handguns, 22 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of heroin, and other drug paraphernalia near the vehicle. A warrant check revealed that Conde was wanted for engaging in organized crime in Tarrant County and Lopez was wanted for family violence out of Austin County.

Police said they are expecting criminal charges to be filed and their investigation is ongoing.
