FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Authorities say an 81-year-old Fort Worth woman has died at a hospital after falling into her backyard pool while in a wheelchair.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office says Billie Gaddy died on Saturday night.

Her family was visiting when she had gone outside with her dog. Gaddy often took her pet for walks while in her motorized wheelchair, but it worried her relatives because she rode it near the swimming pool.

Lisa Anderson, Gaddy's daughter, says her mother had health problems, prior strokes and was nearly blind. Family members were about to give Gaddy her medications when they found her unresponsive in the water.

Gaddy was taken by an ambulance to a Fort Worth hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
