FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth police have shot and arrested a man they believe was breaking into cars and stole at least one from a night club parking lot.

Police believe Hector Rene Banderas-Martinez was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle as he drove away from Club 2011 Escapade, located at 2401 South Campus Court in Fort Worth at about 1:30 am on Sunday morning. Three officers were working off duty security at the club and notified by employees that people were breaking into vehicles in the parking lot.

When the officers went to investigate, they saw a man driving gray Lincoln 4-door while an employee tried to stop him. Police say the suspect drove directly at one of the officers as he tried to approach the car, before the officer fired at the car.

About 10 hours later, Banderas-Martinez went to Huguley Hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds to his face and lower abdomen. Banderas-Martinez was treated, released and transported to Fort Worth Jail, where he has been charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant.

The stolen car was later found at a Fort Worth apartment complex with damage to the front windshield and front passenger window. Police are still looking for one suspect associated with this case.

The officer who shot Banderas-Martinez was not injured and has been identified as Officer F. Conchas, who has been with the department since 2009. He has been placed on routine administrative leave.
