Fort Worth Officer Hurt In Car Crash

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A police officer suffered minor injuries after his squad car was struck by another vehicle early Friday morning in south Fort Worth. The crash happened at about 12:45 a.m. along McCart Avenue, in the intersection with Walton Avenue.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, the squad car was traveling southbound along McCart Avenue when a Toyota Prius heading eastbound ran through a red light at the intersection and collided with the police vehicle.

Witnesses confirmed that report with the authorities.

The police officer was taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries. A 62-year-old female passenger inside of the Toyota complained about a head injury. She was also transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to be okay.

The 64-year-old driver of the Toyota was not hurt. He was, however, cited for failing to stop at a red light. Officials have not released the names of anyone in this incident.
