Deadly shooting at Lake Como Park marks Fort Worth's 2nd park homicide this week, authorities say

A person was shot and killed Wednesday evening at a Fort Worth park – the second deadly park shooting in the city this week.

Fort Worth police officers were called just after 6 p.m. to Lake Como Park near Merrick Street, where there was a man on a walking bridge with gunshot wounds to his torso. Fort Worth Fire EMS said the man died at the scene.

According to police, the man and the suspect, a woman, were previously involved in a dating relationship and had a verbal and physical altercation on the bridge. Before the shooting, the woman attempted to have witnesses call 911 after she was allegedly assaulted.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the man's official cause of death.
