FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A Fort Worth school worker was fired for reportedly beating a puppy in front of students this morning.

Parents said the woman used a broom to hit the dog outside sunrise McMillan Elementary.

Fort Worth ISD said the custodian was trying to "remove" the dog from campus.

After parents complained, district officials decided to fire her, and asked police to investigate.

A parent took the puppy home and is now looking for a veterinarian to check him out.
