FORT WORTH (AP) - Fort Worth authorities have rescued two men who became stranded after trying to cross a river on their all-terrain vehicles.

The men apparently tried to cross what is usually a shallow area in the West Fork Trinity River but were swept downstream Thursday.

Crews with the Fort Worth Fire Department responded after one of the men managed to call 911 from the middle of the river.

Department spokesman Lt. Kyle Falkner says a diver swam to the men with two life jackets and then the three were dragged to shore by a rope pulled by firefighters on land.

Emergency medical personnel checked the men at the scene and say they weren't injured.
