WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Search crews in Weatherford on Thursday morning have located the body of a fisherman who was reported missing on Wednesday night. Police were called to the lake at Cartwright Park at around 8:35 p.m. about a man who was believed to have drowned.
Emergency officials arrived at the scene and confirmed that an adult man was missing after having last been seen in the water. The man was later identified by family members as 20-year-old Abdalla Busoul.
Investigators stated that two men were on the lake, fishing in an inflatable motorboat. The missing individual, who was unable to swim, got up to put on a life jacket, but fell overboard in the process. The second man jumped into the lake to help his friend stay afloat, while the boat drifted away.
A witness on the shore was able to retrieve the boat and bring it back to the fishermen, but only one man was above the water by this time. The person who originally fell into the lake, Busoul, could no longer be found.
Police were out at the lake late Wednesday night, but were unable to locate the missing man. Additional crews began to look over the lake on Thursday. Police tweeted on Thursday morning that the victim's body has been recovered.
