1 dead, 5 injured after 3-car crash on Fort Worth freeway, police say

Fatal 3-car crash shuts down Fort Worth freeway

One person has died, and five others have been transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash on I-35 in Fort Worth, police said.

At about 2:42 a.m., officers were called to the southbound lanes at 5500 South Freeway after the reported crash.

Witnesses told police that two cars were involved in the initial crash, and then a third car hit one of the disabled vehicles.

Fort Worth PD said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and five others were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. 

The Texas Department of Transportation reported that all southbound lanes were closed until crews cleared the scene at about 7 a.m.

Fort Worth PD said the cause of the crash is under investigation. The names of the victims have not been released.
