EULESS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Euless Police officer killed in the line of duty has been identified as 29-year-old David Hofer.

Hofer was shot and killed while approaching a man in J. A. Carr Park Tuesday afternoon.  Chief Mike Brown says the suspect fired at the officer right after the officer approached.

Chief Brown says Hofer was engaged to be married.   He lived in Plano and came to Euless PD in January 2014.

Chief Brown says Hofer had a "servant heart and dry wit" and will be missed.
