KILLEEN, Texas (AP) - Officials are investigating the death of a Fort Hood soldier who was found outside an off-base apartment after he returned from deployment in West Africa. Tests for Ebola given as a precaution came back negative.

A Fort Hood statement issued Tuesday night says conclusive tests required by federal health officials came back negative.

An autopsy has been ordered to try to determine what caused the 24-year-old soldier's death.

The soldier's body was found Tuesday morning. Fort Hood spokesman Chris Haug says the soldier returned with his unit last week from Liberia, where he helped construct an Ebola treatment camp. Haug says he wasn't exposed to patients.
